Velocity Racing League is announcing a new concept. The State of Origin series takes the form of a Formula 3 championship on Assetto Corsa over just three weeks. It pitches state against state (and New Zealand too), in a quickfire, entertaining series.
Each driver nominates their "State of Origin" at sign up, and will be placed into a car bearing their state's colours. The top two from each state gets points (for their state) towards the State of Origin championship, or more depending on how many sign up for each state. This is to keep it fair to the smaller states. Victorian and NSW drivers also compete for a VIC vs NSW championship, in which the top 6 from each state gets points for their state. This gives some people a purpose to race for their highly populated state, where it might be very difficult to hit that top two for the State of Origin championship. There will also be a standard drivers championship.
The series is scheduled for November. In the meantime, we're opening a competition to design the liveries. Entrants can choose to design a livery for Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia or New Zealand. If they wish to do so, they can also design a car for Western Australia, Tasmania, or either of the territories.
Entries must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 23rd of October. Entries must be in psd format, and must be based on the state colours (eg. navy blue and white for Victoria), and have sponsors with a strong connection to their state.
More details about the series coming soon. If you want be there for when signups open, head to our discord server.
